On May 16th, I was honored to be able to join the Federation des Femmes du Quebec as they appeared before the Institutions committee to express their thoughts on Bill 21, the CAQ's secularism law. It was an important opportunity to express the concern and dismay this was causing for Muslim women in Quebec, who are dealing with a rise in hate crimes as a result of debate surrounding this and similar legislation (Bill 60, Bill 62). Coverage was widespread, and I'm including links to an in-depth by Vice Canada's Urooba Jamal and a post hearing interview by Breakfast Television.
